The Ministry of Women Affairs, children’s and social development was established to address the unique challenges faced by women in our society. We work towards:
– Policy Development: Crafting and implementing policies that promote women’s rights and gender equality.
– Advocacy: Raising awareness about women’s issues and advocating for systemic changes.
– Support Services: Providing resources and support for women in need, including shelters, counseling, and legal aid.
Mandate
The Zamfara State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children’s and Social Development operates under the following mandates:
1. Empowerment of Women:
– Develop and implement programs that enhance women’s economic independence and promote their participation in decision-making processes at all levels.
2. Child Protection and Welfare:
– Safeguard the rights and welfare of children by enforcing child protection laws, providing social services, and promoting initiatives that support child development and education.
3. Promotion of Gender Equality:
– Advocate for policies and practices that promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination against women and girls in all aspects of life.
4. Social Development Initiatives:
– Design and execute programs aimed at improving the social well-being of vulnerable groups, including women, children, and persons with disabilities.
5. Capacity Building and Training:
– Provide training and resources to empower women and children, enhancing their skills and knowledge to improve their livelihoods and quality of life.
6. Community Engagement and Awareness:
– Raise awareness about issues affecting women and children, including domestic violence, child abuse, and social injustices, while fostering community involvement in addressing these challenges.
7. Collaboration and Partnerships:
– Work in partnership with governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, community groups, and international partners to strengthen efforts in promoting women’s and children’s rights and social development in Zamfara State.
8. Research and Policy Development:
– Conduct research to inform policy d decisions and program development, ensuring that our initiatives are evidence-based and responsive to the needs of women, children, and families in Zamfara State.
